What’s Happening in Knoxville this Spring 2024

Knoxville lights up the second those Dogwood trees start to bloom! The weather is getting nicer, the days are getting longer, and it’s the perfect time to get out of the house to explore all the great things Knoxville has to offer.

Lucky for you, I’ve compiled a list of the top events happening in Knoxville this Spring! If you’re ready to have your weekends filled, keep on reading.

Big Ears Festival (March 21-24)

Get ready for Knoxville’s biggest music festival of the year! Big Ears hosts nearly 200 performances - including concerts, talks, workshops, film screenings, and residencies - across multiple venues throughout downtown.

This festival does have a ticketed entry for the shows, but there will be numerous art installations and performances happening for free throughout downtown the entire weekend!

BANFF Mountain Film Festival (March 25-27)

Immediately following the Big Ears festival, BANFF Mountain Film Festival will be taking place at the Bijou Theater! Each night boasts a different collection of films that highlight exciting new cultures and vast landscapes across the world.

Chalk Walk (April 6)

Knoxville’s chalk walk is the local’s favorite way to kick off the Dogwood Arts festival! Walk around Market Square and enjoy the different colors of Spring all beneath your feet (literally!). Numerous artists will fill up the sidewalks and coat the ground in gorgeous artwork.

If we’re lucky, the April showers will hold off and we can all enjoy the chalk for longer than just one day!

Dogwood Arts Festival (April 26-28)

If you’re a Knoxville native, then you know that the Dogwood Arts Festival is the epitome of Springtime in East Tennessee. This festival is held at World’s Fair Park and you can expect local vendors, live music, and (of course) plenty of fine arts!

Market Square Farmers Market (Starts May 1)

Say hello to fresh food and local goods! The Market Square Farmers Market returns on May 1st and happens every Wednesday & Saturday. You’ll find delicious produce, homemade jams, fresh-cut flowers, and so much more!

Southern Skies Music and Whiskey Festival (May 11)

(Some might categorize this music festival as the start of Summer, but we’re going to include it on our list anyway since it is produced by Dogwood Arts)

The Southern Skies Music and Whiskey Festival is a full day of Americana music and whiskey! The lineup takes place on the Performance Lawn at World’s Fair Park and tickets range from general admission to VIP.
